Coats for Kids campaign goes virtual, but the need remains

Coats for Kids is an annual campaign helmed by NewsWatch 12 that connects kids in need with winter coats donated by members of the community. In the last 30 years, Coats for Kids has collected, cleaned, and distributed more than 125,000 coats to children in Southern Oregon.

The current health crisis has necessitated some changes to Coats for Kids for 2020 — but the need in our community and our willingness to help remains the same. This year, the big red barrels will remain in storage as our Coats for Kids campaign goes virtual.

Instead of collecting coats, NewsWatch 12 is raising money to buy brand new coats for children in our community. Coats will then be distributed through our partners in Klamath County (Integral Youth Services and Klamath Falls Gospel Mission), Josephine County (Boys & Girls Clubs), and Jackson County (the Salvation Army).

If you’d like to help local children in need this year, click here and visit our donation page to make a contribution.

In addition to donations online at kdrv.com, we’re expanding how people can contribute to the effort by inviting donations by check. Anyone wishing to write a check in support of the campaign can send it to: KDRV-TV, Attention: Coats for Kids, P.O. Box 4220, Medford, OR 97501. Checks should be made payable to KDRV-TV with Coats for Kids written on the memo line.
