38-year-old Bend man accused of targeting several homes arrested after multi-agency search

Bend, OR – A 38-year-old Bend man was arrested Friday after police said he broke into a southeast Bend home and attempted to enter several other properties in the neighborhood.

According to the Bend Police Department, officers responded at about 8:33 a.m. on Aug. 14 after a homeowner in the 20800 block of Southeast Denver Drive reported that her home had been burglarized and items had been stolen.

As officers canvassed the area, investigators discovered surveillance footage showing the suspect attempting to enter four additional homes.

With assistance from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, police identified the suspect as Michael Scott Delay, 38, of Bend.

Police noted that officers had contacted Delay the day before, on Aug. 13, after he was seen walking in the roadway less than two miles from the burglary scene.

At about 7:37 p.m. Friday, officers with the Redmond Police Department located Delay near Northeast Blackfoot Court and took him into custody.

Delay was arrested on suspicion of four counts of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft before being booked into the Deschutes County Jail.

Bend Police thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Redmond Police Department for assisting with the investigation.
