Bend, OR – The Bend Police Department marked National Dog Day on Aug. 26 by recognizing the K9s that serve alongside its officers.

The department shared a lighthearted message highlighting its police dogs, including apprehension K9s Maggie, Billy and Buck, as well as drug detection K9 Bonnie.

The department said Maggie, Billy and Buck received extra treats for National Dog Day, while Bonnie was also rewarded despite her reputation for having trouble sitting still.

The K9s play an important role in the department’s law enforcement operations, assisting officers with tasks including apprehension and drug detection.

The National Dog Day post gave the department an opportunity to recognize the work of its K9 partners while giving the community a glimpse at the dogs behind the badge.
