Teen seriously injured in electric motorcycle crash in Bend

A 13-year-old boy sustained critical injuries following a collision between an electric motorcycle and a minivan in Bend, Oregon, according to the Bend Police Department.

The crash occurred on October 2, 2026, at approximately 7:58 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast 27th Street and Neff Road.

Police said the teenager was riding a Surron electric motorcycle southbound on Northeast 27th Street when he collided with a white Dodge minivan driven by a 51-year-old man.

According to investigators, the minivan was making a left turn when the collision occurred. The motorcycle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, and the impact threw the teenager from the vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured boy to a hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities described his injuries as critical. The teenager was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Investigators noted that the Surron electric motorcycle involved in the collision is capable of traveling at speeds exceeding 50 miles per hour and is not street-legal.

The minivan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said he was not cited in connection with the crash.

The incident prompted a police investigation and temporarily affected traffic in the surrounding area.

The crash highlights the potential dangers associated with operating high-powered electric motorcycles on public roads, particularly when riders are underage.

Authorities have not released further details about the teenager’s recovery.
