Bend, OR – A 15-year-old Bend resident was arrested Aug. 25 after allegedly pointing a realistic replica handgun at three teenagers during a dispute outside an apartment complex, according to the Bend Police Department.

Police responded at approximately 1:39 a.m. to the Westside Village Apartments in the 1400 block of NW Albany Avenue following a report that a teenager had pointed a gun at a group of teens.

Investigators learned that a 17-year-old had become involved in a confrontation with the 15-year-old over social media. The 17-year-old was reportedly with friends in a vehicle outside the 15-year-old’s apartment building when the suspect exited the apartment.

According to police, the 15-year-old then pointed a gun at each member of the group. The weapon was reportedly equipped with a laser sight.

Because of the circumstances of the incident, members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team responded to the apartment complex.

At approximately 7:38 a.m., officers called the 15-year-old out of the apartment. Police said he was detained without incident.

Officers subsequently executed a search warrant at the teenager’s apartment. During the search, they recovered a realistic replica handgun equipped with a laser sight.

The 15-year-old was transported to Deschutes County Juvenile Community Justice on suspicion of three counts of menacing.

Police identified the alleged offenses as three counts of menacing, corresponding to the three people who were reportedly threatened with the replica firearm.
