Bend, OR – Bend police arrested a 46-year-old man after a standoff lasting more than four hours at a home in northeast Bend, where officers were attempting to take him into custody on a nationwide warrant out of Idaho.
The Bend Police Department said officers responded at approximately 11:24 a.m. on October 21 to a report from Deschutes County Parole and Probation officers that a man wanted on a warrant was inside a home in the 900 block of NE Francis Court.
The suspect was identified as Bryan Paul Hill, a 46-year-old Bend resident. Police said he was wanted on a nationwide warrant from Ada County, Idaho, for domestic battery. He was also wanted by Bend police in connection with a September incident involving suspected first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two restraining order violations.
Officers surrounded the residence and managed to get two other people out of the home. However, Hill refused to leave despite repeated instructions from officers over a loudspeaker informing him that he was under arrest.
The standoff continued for more than four hours, prompting the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team to respond. Police maintained a large presence in the surrounding area while officers worked to resolve the situation.
Following extensive negotiations, Hill eventually agreed to exit the residence.
At approximately 3:49 p.m., he came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Hill was transported to the Deschutes County Jail and booked on suspicion of the offenses listed by the department, including first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two restraining order violations, along with the outstanding warrant.
