Redmond Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash on I-82

Redmond, OR – A 20-year-old Redmond woman was killed Friday evening in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 82 near Umatilla County, Oregon State Police reported Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Madyson Braelyn Curtis, was driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on I-82, near milepost 8, when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under investigation. According to a preliminary report from Oregon State Police (OSP), the SUV rolled several times before coming to a stop in the freeway’s median.

Curtis was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, which temporarily closed the highway for about 30 minutes.

Emergency personnel from the Hermiston Fire Department, as well as the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), assisted OSP in the investigation.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation. More details will be released as they become available.

The incident has left the local community in mourning as they remember Curtis, who was just beginning her adult life.
