BEND, Ore. – A man with a statewide felony warrant was taken into custody Wednesday evening following a heavy police presence and standoff in southeast Bend. Authorities say the suspect, identified as Brach Roberts, was believed to be armed, prompting the activation of SWAT and a regional emergency response team.
The incident began shortly after 3:00 p.m. at the Old Mill Apartments, located at 903 SE Third Street, near Vince Genna Stadium. Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller confirmed that law enforcement had received information placing Roberts at the apartment complex and indicating he might be armed. As a result, the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) and SWAT were deployed to the scene.
A command post was established at Vince Genna Stadium, and police urged the public to avoid the area while negotiations and tactical operations unfolded.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., Roberts surrendered peacefully, emerging from a room with his hands raised. Officers took him into custody without further incident. A woman who was also inside the apartment was detained temporarily but was later released without charges.
Court records reveal that Roberts was wanted for a probation violation stemming from a felony drug conviction. His criminal history includes prior convictions for assault, eluding police, and resisting arrest.
Authorities have not disclosed whether any weapons were recovered at the scene. No injuries were reported during the operation.
