Bend Police to host prescription drug take-back event on October 24

The Bend Police Department is inviting residents to safely dispose of unwanted, unused and expired prescription medications during a community drug take-back event scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bend Police Department, located at 555 NE 15th Street in Bend, Oregon.

Organizers will provide a convenient drive-through collection service, allowing residents to drop off medications without leaving their vehicles.

The initiative aims to reduce the risks associated with keeping unnecessary medications at home, including accidental poisoning, misuse and improper disposal.

Residents are encouraged to check their medicine cabinets and bring prescription drugs they no longer need.

The department will also accept used needles and other sharps, provided they are placed in appropriate sharps containers.

Safe medication disposal helps prevent potentially harmful substances from entering the environment through household waste or wastewater systems.

The event offers community members an opportunity to dispose of unwanted medications responsibly while contributing to public health and safety.

Residents seeking additional information are encouraged to contact the Bend Police Department before attending.
