BEND, Ore. — The City of Bend has launched a new long-range planning effort aimed at guiding how the community grows over the next 20 years, with residents being asked to participate in the process.

The initiative, called Bend Made, will coordinate planning for housing, infrastructure and employment as the city prepares for future growth. Oregon requires cities to plan for anticipated growth, and Bend officials say community involvement will be incorporated throughout the process.

As part of the launch, the city is using an online community engagement platform called Social Point. Residents can use the platform to participate in surveys, answer questions and interact with maps related to Bend’s future development. Feedback submitted through the platform will become part of the planning process.

One of the first opportunities for participation is a Housing Needs Survey, which asks community members about their housing experiences, needs and priorities.

The broader Bend Made effort will examine several areas affected by long-term growth, including housing and employment, transportation, infrastructure, climate and resilience, and community access.

The planning process is expected to span several years. City planning materials indicate technical work and initial public outreach are beginning in 2026, with increased community engagement expected in 2027 and additional planning and decision-making continuing in subsequent years.
