Woman Arrested After Robbery and Threatening Incident Near Moda Center

Portland, OR — Portland police have arrested a 52-year-old woman after a robbery and stabbing incident near the Moda Center on Saturday morning.

According to authorities, the incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast Multnomah and Williams Avenue. Officers responded to a call reporting a stabbing, but when they arrived, the alleged victim had already left the scene.

Police say the suspect, identified as Angelique Butler, approached a group of people who were camping nearby, awaiting a concert. Butler allegedly threatened the individuals with a kitchen-style knife and attempted to steal a sleeping bag from them. The suspect reportedly brandished the knife and menaced the campers before taking the sleeping bag and fleeing the area.

Officers later located Butler, who was found in possession of stolen property. She was taken into custody without further incident.

Butler has been charged with robbery in the second degree, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and disorderly conduct. Authorities have not released further details about the condition of the alleged stabbing victim, though they confirmed the individual did not require immediate medical attention.

The arrest comes as Portland continues to grapple with a rise in public safety concerns and incidents near high-traffic areas like the Moda Center, which hosts concerts, sports events, and other large gatherings.

No additional details have been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
