Tragic Car Crash in Klamath County Claims Four Lives, Including Two Teens and a Foreign Exchange Student

Bend, OR – A devastating car crash on Highway 97 outside of Chiloquin, Oregon, claimed the lives of four individuals, including two teenagers and a 15-year-old foreign exchange student from Germany. The tragic accident took place just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 22, when a Toyota 4Runner, driven by 21-year-old Trevor Christian McNally of Klamath Falls, lost control of the vehicle while traveling northbound.

According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), McNally’s 4Runner crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a southbound semi-truck. The impact of the crash left McNally and three of his passengers dead at the scene. The victims were identified as a 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old female exchange student who had been visiting the United States from Germany.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the victims could not be revived. The names of the other passengers, including the two 13-year-olds and the exchange student, have not yet been released pending notification of their families.

The community of Klamath County has been left shaken by the loss. Local residents and organizations have already begun rallying around the families of the victims, offering support and assistance during this difficult time. Memorial funds have been set up to help with funeral expenses and to provide aid to the grieving families.

Investigators from the Oregon State Police are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash. Early reports suggest that icy road conditions and possible driver error may have contributed to the tragic event. Highway 97 was temporarily closed while authorities investigated the scene, and traffic was rerouted to ensure safety.

The crash has left many in the community grappling with the sudden loss of young lives. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and our hearts go out to the families affected,” said a local representative. “We are doing everything we can to help those who have lost so much.”

As the community comes together to mourn and support the grieving families, authorities urge drivers to take extra precautions, especially during the winter months when road conditions can be unpredictable.
