La Pine Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 97

Bend, OR β€” A La Pine woman was killed and a Madras man severely injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near Terrebonne Friday evening. Oregon State Police are investigating the cause of the collision, which took place on December 27, 2024.

At approximately 4:57 p.m., authorities responded to the scene near milepost 117 in Deschutes County. According to the preliminary investigation, a northbound Ford F250, driven by 45-year-old Benjamin Troy Boynton Jr. of Madras, crossed the centerline for reasons that remain unclear. The truck collided with a southbound Jeep Wrangler, driven by 43-year-old Rebecka Ann Perrine of La Pine.

Perrine, the operator of the Jeep, was tragically declared dead at the scene. Boynton, who sustained serious injuries in the crash, was rushed to the hospital and is currently fighting for his life.

The Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and further details about the cause of the crash have not yet been released. As of now, there are no indications of alcohol or drugs being involved. Authorities have not shared whether weather or road conditions played a role in the crash.
