Bend WinterFest Returns Amid Wintry Weather Concerns

BEND, Ore. — The popular Bend WinterFest is set to return to the Old Mill District this weekend, bringing with it a celebration of winter sports, music, food, and festive activities. Starting this Friday, the three-day event is expected to draw thousands of attendees, much like last year when over 20,000 people filled the area with winter cheer.

While the event promises to be an exciting highlight for the community, organizers are keeping a close eye on the weather. Recent snowstorms and challenging mountain conditions have raised concerns for those traveling to Bend, especially from cities like Portland and Seattle, where WinterFest visitors frequently hail from.

Nate Wyeth, Senior Vice President of Strategy at Visit Bend, shared his concerns, noting that “we’re a little bit concerned about the mountain conditions right now and folks’ ability to get over here.” Wyeth pointed out that last year’s event saw several last-minute cancellations due to weather disruptions, and there’s a possibility that this year’s festivities could be affected in a similar manner.

Despite these concerns, organizers are optimistic that the event will proceed as planned, with local businesses and winter enthusiasts gearing up for a memorable weekend. With a variety of activities lined up, from snow sculptures to live music performances, WinterFest continues to be one of Bend’s most anticipated annual traditions.

For those considering attending, it’s advised to monitor road conditions closely and prepare for possible delays due to inclement weather. While Bend’s winter charm is undeniable, the mountain passes could present challenges for travelers looking to join in on the fun.

As the weekend approaches, attendees are hoping that the weather won’t dampen the excitement of what promises to be another successful WinterFest.
