Bend Park and Recreation District Opens Applications for 2025-26 Kids Inc. Afterschool Program

BEND, Ore. — The Bend Park and Recreation District (BPRD) has opened applications for its popular Kids Inc. afterschool childcare program for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. The program, which serves kindergarten through 5th-grade students, will be available at all Bend elementary schools, except Amity Creek and Westside Village. This service offers an essential resource for working families, providing a safe and engaging environment for children until 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Parents have the option to choose between full-time or part-time enrollment. Part-time options are available on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, with assignments made through a lottery system. Families who are selected for part-time care will have the opportunity to transition to full-time if space becomes available, as long as they indicate this preference on their application.

The cost for the program will see a slight increase for the 2025-26 school year. Full-time care will rise from $265 to $285 per month, while part-time care will increase from $135 to $142.50 per month. These increases reflect the growing demand and the district’s commitment to providing quality childcare services.

Applications for the program must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on May 16 for consideration in the initial lottery. Families can apply online or by calling the BPRD at 541-389-7275. The lottery will determine both acceptance and waitlist status, with applicants notified of their status by May 27. Once notified, families will have until June 9 to secure their spot by submitting a deposit for the first month’s tuition. Monthly payments will then be due on the 15th of the preceding month.

BPRD encourages families who already have alternative childcare arrangements or those who no longer require the program to consider other options, as this will help make space for families in need.

For more information or to submit an application, visit the BPRD website or contact the district directly.
