Sen. Jeff Merkley to Host Town Halls Across Central Oregon on May 10

BEND, Ore. — U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley will hold three in-person town halls across Central Oregon this Saturday, May 10, making stops in Jefferson, Crook, and Deschutes counties. The public events, originally scheduled for last month, were postponed due to Senate voting obligations.

Merkley’s first town hall will begin at 10 a.m. at the Madras Performing Arts Center Auditorium in Madras. He will then head to Prineville for a 1 p.m. event at the Barnes Butte Elementary School gym. His final stop of the day will be in Sisters at 5:30 p.m., where he will be joined by U.S. Representative Janelle Bynum, who represents Oregon’s 5th Congressional District.

Town halls have long been a hallmark of Merkley’s approach to public service. He is known for visiting every Oregon county each year to hear directly from constituents about local issues and concerns. According to his office, these events often reach capacity, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot.

Rep. Bynum’s appearance in Sisters highlights growing collaboration between Oregon’s congressional delegation members, particularly as the state navigates key policy challenges related to housing, wildfire resilience, and economic development in rural communities.

Each town hall will provide an open forum for residents to ask questions, share opinions, and engage directly with their elected representatives.
