Eugene Fire Crews Rescue People Trapped in Floodwaters Beneath Oak Patch Overpass

Eugene, OR – Early Thursday morning, Eugene Springfield Fire crews successfully carried out a weather-related rescue after several individuals were trapped in rising floodwaters beneath the Oak Patch overpass in Eugene.

According to local authorities, 911 dispatchers received multiple calls from concerned citizens reporting people in distress as floodwaters surged due to the latest storm. Crews arrived at the scene to find that the water levels had risen to dangerously high levels, reaching the openings of tents where the individuals had taken shelter.

While one person managed to escape the dangerous situation on their own, fire crews acted quickly to rescue two others who were unable to flee. Using ladders, firefighters were able to reach the individuals trapped inside the tents, along with a dog, and bring them to safety.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the rescue operation. Authorities are continuing to monitor the area for any further weather-related incidents, as the region remains at risk for additional storms.
