Portland, OR — A man was found dead Tuesday evening following a shooting outside the Quality Inn in Northeast Portland, authorities reported. Police responded to the scene shortly before 5:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve after receiving calls about a shooting in the hotel parking lot, located at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim’s body in the lot. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) confirmed that the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. As of late Tuesday evening, there were no suspects in custody and no immediate arrests had been made.
The PPB’s homicide unit took over the investigation, and a mobile command center was set up in the parking lot to assist with the inquiry. Despite the ongoing investigation, nearby roads remained open to traffic, though police cordoned off the hotel parking lot to preserve the crime scene.
