Firefighters Battle Blaze in Redmond, Oregon; No Injuries Reported

REDMOND, Ore. – Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that severely damaged a home on O’Neil Way northeast of Redmond Thursday morning. The blaze, which broke out in the 4700 block of Northeast O’Neil Way, sent large columns of smoke into the air and prompted a quick response from Redmond Fire & Rescue crews.

Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer Tom Mooney confirmed that firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 10:30 a.m. upon reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, first responders were met with a large volume of flames. However, they quickly launched an aggressive attack to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation, a crucial action given the area’s dry conditions.

The area lacks fire hydrants, which posed an additional challenge for firefighters. In response, water tenders were utilized to supply water, enabling the crews to control and ultimately extinguish the flames.

Fortunately, no residents or firefighters were injured during the incident. Firefighters were also able to salvage some personal belongings from the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials are working diligently to determine how the blaze began.

Fire officials urge residents to remain vigilant, especially in areas without readily available water sources, and to ensure that fire prevention measures are in place as the dry season continues.
