SISTERS, Ore. — An 82-year-old Sisters man was killed and an 81-year-old woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash northeast of Sisters on Wednesday, Sept. 2, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at approximately 2:33 p.m. on Wilt Road, east of Fair Mile Lane.
Investigators said a white 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on Wilt Road when it left the roadway on the north shoulder and struck a ponderosa pine tree.
The driver, identified as 82-year-old Frank Halvorsen of Sisters, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 81-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital by medics with the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District. Authorities did not provide additional information about her condition.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District and the Deschutes County Road Department.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
