BEND, Ore. — A Redmond man wanted in connection with a series of sex crimes involving a young girl has been arrested in Oklahoma, authorities confirmed this week.
John Patrick Varney Fackrell, who had been living in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, was taken into custody on April 22 and booked into the Choctaw County Jail. Officials say he is awaiting extradition to Oregon, where he faces multiple felony charges stemming from alleged incidents that occurred nearly a decade ago.
According to Deschutes County court records, Fackrell was formally charged on February 26 with one count of attempted first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of third-degree sexual abuse. The victim, investigators say, was under the age of 12 at the time of the alleged offenses, which reportedly occurred between January and July 2016.
Following the filing of charges, a warrant was issued for Fackrell’s arrest on February 27, with bail set at $500,000.
Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding his discovery in Oklahoma, but say efforts are now underway to return Fackrell to Oregon to face the charges.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the alleged victim, further details have not been released.
