Traffic Delays Expected in Bend as Olney Avenue and Wall Street Intersection Remains Closed

BEND, Ore. — The City of Bend has acknowledged significant traffic delays resulting from the ongoing closure of the Olney Avenue and Wall Street intersection, compounded by the first substantial winter storm of the season. In a statement released Wednesday, city officials recognized the challenges this has posed to local commuters and assured residents that efforts are underway to ease the disruption.

“The City recognizes that this week’s closure, combined with weather conditions, has led to traffic delays around town,” the statement read. “This has not gone unnoticed, and we are actively working to lessen those impacts.”

To mitigate the situation, the City of Bend has coordinated with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to temporarily adjust traffic signals along Greenwood Avenue, aiming to reduce congestion along key east-west routes. City officials have emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored, with additional signal adjustments expected in the coming weeks if necessary.

Further, a detailed map has been released to guide residents in navigating around the closure, offering alternate routes to help alleviate congestion and maintain smoother traffic flow across the city.

City officials encouraged drivers to familiarize themselves with these detours to avoid unnecessary delays and to remain patient as ongoing adjustments are made to address the situation.

As the city continues to adapt to these challenges, residents are advised to stay informed through local traffic updates and the City’s official channels.
