Redmond Teen Arrested on Arson Charge After RV Fire

REDMOND, Ore. – An 18-year-old Redmond resident was arrested Thursday on suspicion of arson after allegedly setting fire to an unoccupied RV in east Redmond following a family dispute, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 12:25 p.m., when officers from the Redmond Police Department and Redmond Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a burning RV in an undeveloped area south of East Antler Avenue and north of East Highway 126.

According to Redmond Police Lieutenant April Huey, a preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set following a disagreement between the suspect and adult family members. The RV, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, was destroyed in the blaze.

After fleeing the scene, the suspect was located later with the assistance of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging any potential witnesses to come forward. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, faces arson charges in connection with the fire.

The fire posed significant risks to nearby structures and the surrounding area, but thanks to the quick response of local authorities, the situation was contained without further harm.

This case remains under investigation as police work to gather more details.
