Man Arrested After Crashing Into Eugene Tavern and Fleeing the Scene

Eugene, OR — A 39-year-old man was arrested last week after causing a chaotic scene outside a local tavern. The incident occurred late on the evening of December 20, 2024, at The Keg Tavern, located on West 11th Avenue.

According to the Eugene Police Department (EPD), at approximately 11:23 p.m., a driver in a Buick LeSabre reversed into a Volkswagen Passat before driving forward and narrowly missing a pedestrian who was standing near the building. The driver then crashed into the tavern’s structure before fleeing the scene.

EPD officers quickly launched an investigation into the incident. Using available evidence, the officers were able to determine the identity of the suspect and traced him to a location near his home. While canvassing the area, an officer reportedly heard a car horn honk behind him. Upon investigating, the officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car and followed it into a nearby cul-de-sac.

There, the officer made contact with the driver, later identified as Zach James Dolan. As Dolan exited his vehicle, the officer gave him several commands, but Dolan responded with insults and refused to cooperate. EPD reports that Dolan also mentioned the names of certain officers during the encounter.

Dolan was ultimately arrested and taken into custody in connection with the incident. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding charges or the driver’s motive. The crash caused minor damage to both vehicles and the tavern, but no one was injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and Dolan’s arraignment is expected to take place in the coming days.
