I-84 Westbound Lanes Reopen After Crash Near Hood River

Portland, OR – A crash near Hood River caused a significant traffic disruption on Monday evening, with all westbound lanes of Interstate 84 closed for several hours.

The incident, which occurred near milepost 64, led to a complete closure of the highway’s westbound lanes, causing delays for travelers heading toward Portland. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported that the highway was shut down around 5:30 p.m. as emergency crews responded to the scene.

After several hours of work to clear the wreckage and ensure safety, the westbound lanes were reopened around 8:30 p.m., allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. No injuries were immediately reported, but authorities have not yet confirmed the full extent of the damage or the cause of the crash.

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes during the closure, and ODOT warned that significant delays were likely to continue as traffic began to return to normal.

As of now, officials are investigating the incident and will provide more details as they become available. Travelers planning to use I-84 are encouraged to monitor local traffic reports for updates.
