46-Year-Old Woman Killed in Three-Car Crash on NE Lombard in Portland

Portland, OR – A 46-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured in a three-car crash Thursday evening in northeast Portland. Authorities believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash, which occurred at around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast Lombard Street.

Portland police responded to the scene, where they found the woman, later identified as Andrea J. Doering of Portland, deceased. Three other people were injured in the collision and were quickly transported to a nearby hospital by emergency responders.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the crash occurred when the driver of a Honda Accord, traveling westbound on Lombard Street, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Honda HRV. The driver and front-seat passenger of the HRV sustained serious injuries. Doering, who was sitting in the backseat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Accord, who was also hospitalized with injuries, is expected to face charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol once he is released from the hospital. Police have not yet released details about the third vehicle involved in the crash, which was reportedly hit by the initial collision.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to gather further details. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, officials said.
