Oregon State Parks to Increase Daily Parking Fees in 2025

Bend, OR – Starting in 2025, daily parking fees at Oregon state parks will see a significant increase. The day-use parking fee will double from $5 to $10 at 25 of the state’s over 250 parks that currently charge for parking. This fee hike is part of an effort to address rising operational and maintenance costs across the state park system.

Locally, parks such as Touvelle State Recreation Area and Shore Acres State Park will be directly impacted by the fee increase, as they are among the 25 parks that charge for parking.

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) has emphasized that the increase will help cover the rising costs associated with maintaining park facilities, preserving natural resources, and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience.

Despite the hike in daily parking fees, the cost of annual parking permits will remain unchanged. A year-long permit will continue to cost $30, while a two-year permit will remain at $50. For those looking to purchase a year-long permit, OPRD is offering a limited-time discount throughout the month of December. During this promotion, the price for an annual permit will drop to $25, down from the regular $30.

While the daily parking fees will increase, OPRD is offering several opportunities for free parking in 2025. These include New Year’s Day, Oregon State Parks Day on June 7, 2025, and the day after Thanksgiving, when parking will be free at the participating parks.

The fee increases and the special promotions for permits are part of a broader effort by Oregon State Parks to ensure the continued upkeep and enjoyment of its diverse natural spaces, which attract millions of visitors each year.

Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead for their trips and consider purchasing an annual pass to take advantage of the discounted rate while it lasts.
