Search for Armed Robbery Suspect in Portland’s Kenton Neighborhood Ends Without Arrest

Portland, OR – The search for a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Portland’s Kenton neighborhood concluded Thursday morning without the suspect being located, the Portland Police Bureau confirmed.

The incident began early Thursday when officers from the North Precinct responded to a report of an ongoing robbery at a bar located in the 2300 block of North Lombard Street. Initial reports indicated that the suspect was armed with a rifle and had discharged a shot during the robbery, although no injuries were reported.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. A short time later, a police officer spotted a possible match for the suspect near North Terry Street and North Denver Avenue. The suspect allegedly ran into a nearby yard, prompting law enforcement to establish a perimeter in an effort to contain the individual.

Given the belief that the suspect was armed, the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were activated to assist with the search. Officers deployed specialty equipment, including armored vehicles and drones, to aid in locating the suspect.

A perimeter was set up covering the area from North Denver Avenue to North Fenwick Avenue, and from North Farragut Street to North Watts Street. Residents within the designated perimeter were advised to stay indoors and lock their doors for safety. North Lombard Street remained open throughout the operation.

The Portland Police Bureau acknowledged the disruption caused by the intense search and thanked the community for its understanding and patience during the operation. As of Thursday morning, the suspect had not been found, and the Portland Police Major Crimes Unit is now handling the investigation into the robbery.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information related to the case to come forward as the investigation progresses.
