Glenwood Resident Captures Disturbing Break-In on Security Cameras

Bend, OR – A Glenwood woman is speaking out after a disturbing encounter with an intruder in her backyard, which was captured on her surveillance cameras. Rachell Schultz, who lives along Franklin Boulevard with her daughter, was horrified to discover a man had broken into her property and spent over an hour staring into her home, specifically at her daughter who was asleep inside.

The man was seen on the cameras breaking through a fence in the backyard and using play equipment to peer through the windows. According to Schultz, the window he focused on was directly aligned with where her daughter usually sleeps on a bed she made or on the living room couch. “At one point, he either licked or kissed the window… he stayed there for a good amount of time,” Schultz said.

Schultz was unaware of the incident until she checked the footage, which revealed the intruder’s presence for nearly 90 minutes. Since then, she has reported the incident to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and shared the video on social media, hoping to identify the suspect.

“I have lots of anxiety and I’m very irritable, on edge. I just feel alone,” Schultz said, expressing the emotional toll the event has taken on her. “I feel like I’m here with my kid by myself all the time when I’m not working, and I feel just unprotected.”

The area where Schultz lives is known for occasional odd behavior, which she says she was not aware of when she moved in. “It’s not a thing people do… this area is so sketchy. I didn’t know that before I moved in here or else I would not have moved in,” Schultz explained.

In light of the unsettling experience, Schultz is urging others to be proactive about home security. “Definitely lock your gates. Well, I guess that doesn’t even matter because he broke through the fence board,” she remarked. “Get security cameras, floodlights, and keep everything locked and closed up because it’s scary.”

This frightening event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of being vigilant about home security, no matter how safe a neighborhood may seem. As Schultz continues to process the incident, she hopes her experience will encourage others to take the necessary steps to protect themselves and their families.
