Two Redmond Residents Dead After Head-On Collision on Highway 22

Linn County, Oregon – A second Redmond resident has died following a head-on crash on state Highway 22, two weeks after the incident. The Oregon State Police (OSP) reported Friday that Delores Ann Carroll, 76, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred on Friday, Jan. 17, near Minto Road in Linn County.

According to OSP, the accident involved two vehicles. Theodore Kleinman, 79, of Redmond, was driving a red Cadillac eastbound on Highway 22 when he veered off the road and struck a blue Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Carroll, who was also traveling in the opposite direction. The collision occurred around 11:35 a.m. that morning.

Both Kleinman and Carroll were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Carroll’s passenger, Glenn Carroll, 51, of Redmond, was also injured but sustained non-life-threatening wounds. Kleinman was later pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the crash.

In a subsequent update from OSP, it was revealed that Delores Ann Carroll had passed away from her injuries on Wednesday, Jan. 28, bringing the death toll to two.

The accident prompted a closure of Highway 22 for several hours as OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene. The Turner, Gates, and Idanha fire departments, along with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), assisted with the investigation and road clearance.

As of now, the cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, authorities have not disclosed any further details.

The tragic incident has left the local community in mourning, and both families are being remembered by those who knew them.
