Bend, OR — A tragic and complex incident involving three deaths is under investigation in Klamath County, Oregon, following a series of events that unfolded on December 20.
Authorities are examining the deaths as a murder-suicide case, with three separate crime scenes spanning the Bonanza, Bly Mountain, and Beatty areas.
The incident began when family members expressed concern over the welfare of two brothers, Bradley and Joseph Anderson.
The family was worried about Bradley’s recent erratic behavior and called law enforcement to investigate.
Deputies with the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious incident in the Bonanza/Bly Mountain area.
Shortly after, a deputy located the vehicle the brothers were believed to be in, parked on Keno Springs Road.
As two deputies approached the vehicle, a single gunshot rang out.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Bradley Anderson, had taken his own life. Following the discovery of Bradley’s death, the deputies turned their attention to the younger brother, 30-year-old Joseph Anderson, who had been reported missing.
Upon further inspection, Joseph was found deceased in the rear cargo area of the vehicle, concealed beneath blankets. He had also suffered a gunshot wound and was believed to have been killed before Bradley’s suicide.
The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Oregon State Police, launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the brothers’ deaths.
During the investigation, authorities also sought to confirm the welfare of the registered owner of the vehicle, who had been identified as a third person involved in the case.
A short time later, law enforcement officers discovered the owner of the vehicle deceased at his residence near Beatty, Oregon. The man, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, was found inside his home, the apparent victim of a gunshot wound.
It is believed that the man was murdered prior to the deaths of the two brothers.
Authorities are treating the incident as a case of two criminal homicides followed by a suicide, with the deaths occurring at three different locations. The Oregon State Police were called to assist with the investigation due to the deputies witnessing the suicide.
The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information regarding the deaths to come forward.
The District Attorney has been notified and is working with law enforcement on the ongoing investigation.
As authorities piece together the events that led to the tragic loss of three lives, the community remains shaken by the senseless violence that unfolded across the region.
