REDMOND, Ore. — A brush fire believed to have started from an outdoor burn rapidly grew to 20 acres Tuesday afternoon, prompting evacuation notices for residents north of Bend. Firefighters launched an aggressive response that by late evening had stopped the fire’s forward progress and brought containment to 20%.
The blaze, named the Euston Fire, was reported shortly after 4 p.m. near 2551 NW Euston Lane, situated between Redmond and Terrebonne. Fire officials from Central Oregon Fire worked through the evening to control the flames that threatened nearby homes and natural areas.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office initially issued a Level 2 “Be Set” evacuation alert for several residences in the area, advising residents to prepare for possible evacuation. By 9 p.m., the alert was downgraded to Level 1 “Be Ready,” reflecting improved fire conditions and reduced immediate threat.
Fire crews remained on scene to monitor the fire and ensure containment lines held overnight. Authorities continue to urge residents to stay informed on evacuation levels and fire updates through official channels.
