Bend Man Arrested After Stabbing Roommate in Dispute

BEND, Ore. — A 20-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly stabbing his 19-year-old roommate during a domestic dispute at the Escena Apartments on Empire Avenue.

Bend Police responded to the scene at approximately 1:17 a.m. after receiving two 911 hang-up calls. Upon calling back, dispatchers learned the situation involved a potential stabbing. Officers arrived to find the suspect in the parking lot and immediately entered the apartment, where they discovered the victim on a couch with a stab wound to his left ribs.

The victim told police that his roommate was responsible for the attack. A third roommate was present at the time but did not witness the incident, only overhearing the altercation from another room.

Following the incident, the suspect was taken into custody for questioning and later booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment as part of the ongoing investigation into the stabbing.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation and have not yet revealed the exact motive for the dispute. Police are urging anyone involved in similar conflicts to seek help before situations escalate into violence.
