Teen Passenger Killed in Street Racing Crash on Marine Drive

Portland, OR — An 18-year-old driver has been arrested after a street racing crash on Marine Drive left a teenage passenger dead. The incident occurred late on the night of November 30, around 10:33 p.m., near the intersection of North Marine Drive and North Leadbetter Road.

Juan Raul Medina Dominguez, a resident of Gresham, was taken into custody by Portland police on charges of negligent homicide and reckless driving. According to investigators, the crash involved a single-vehicle rollover after the driver was performing “donuts” on the road, a maneuver often associated with street racing.

Responding officers arrived at the scene to find the vehicle flipped onto its right side. Tragically, the teenage male passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash has raised concerns about the dangers of street racing, with authorities stressing the reckless nature of such activities. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, and Dominguez remains in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center as the case moves forward.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of dangerous driving behaviors, especially on public roads.
