Redmond Man Arrested After Stabbing Incident at 7-Eleven

REDMOND, Ore. — A 20-year-old Bend man was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a Redmond homeless shelter, approximately 90 minutes after a stabbing occurred at a nearby 7-Eleven, according to Redmond Police.

The stabbing took place around 2:15 p.m. when a customer at the convenience store, located in the 1200 block of SW Highland Avenue, was attacked. The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was treated at the scene by Redmond Fire & Rescue medics. Authorities later confirmed that the victim did not require additional medical care.

Officers from Redmond Police Department, along with assistance from Bend Police, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies, and Oregon State Police, quickly worked together to locate the suspect. Law enforcement officials arrested the man at Shepherd’s House Ministries’ Redmond Center without incident. The suspect’s identity had been previously revealed in security footage released to the public.

Lieutenant April Huey of the Redmond Police Department confirmed that the suspect would be booked into the Deschutes County Jail in Bend. He faces charges of second-degree attempted assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Authorities emphasized that the victim and suspect were unknown to each other, and the motive for the stabbing remains unclear.

In an effort to ensure public safety, police warned residents to avoid approaching the suspect if seen and to call 9-1-1 immediately. Law enforcement agencies maintained a significant presence in the area as the investigation continued.

The quick response from law enforcement has been credited with swiftly resolving the case, with the suspect now in custody. The Redmond Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
