Portland, OR — A suspected car thief was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after allegedly stealing a luxury Ferrari worth nearly $1 million for a short joyride through the streets of Northwest Portland.
The vehicle, a light green 2023 Ferrari SF90 Spider Hybrid, was reported stolen by its owner, who quickly tracked it using GPS technology. According to the Portland Police Bureau, the owner contacted authorities around 2 p.m. to report the theft and provided officers with the vehicle’s location based on its real-time tracking.
Police responded promptly to the area near Northwest 10th Avenue and Northwest Lovejoy Street, where the Ferrari had been taken. Officers traced the GPS signal to a location near Northwest 16th Avenue and Northwest Kearney Street, where they discovered the luxury car abandoned.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing two individuals walking away from the vehicle. Officers were able to quickly locate the suspects near Northwest 15th Avenue and Northwest Lovejoy Street. After a brief investigation, one of the suspects was identified as 36-year-old Kevin John Miller.
Miller was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and an unrelated warrant. He was later booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
