Portland, OR— A 21-year-old Portland man was sentenced to more than nine years in prison after being convicted for his role in a shooting incident that occurred in Northeast Portland last year. Nathan Darren Isenberg was found guilty of multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and second-degree criminal mischief.
The incident took place on April 17, 2023, near Northeast Caruthers Street and 124th Avenue. According to prosecutors, Isenberg and another individual were seen breaking into a parked vehicle. When the vehicle’s owner confronted the two men, an altercation ensued, during which the victim was shot in the stomach. The victim sustained serious injuries from the gunshot.
The victim’s stepson, who witnessed the confrontation, immediately contacted authorities to report the shooting. Investigators later linked Isenberg to the crime after forensic evidence, including latent fingerprints recovered from the vehicle, were matched to him.
On December 6, 2023, Isenberg was sentenced to 114 months—approximately nine and a half years—in prison. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his time in the Oregon Department of Corrections.
The case highlights concerns about car break-ins and escalating violence in Portland, where incidents like these have become increasingly common. Authorities are continuing to address these issues, working to hold individuals accountable for crimes that put residents at risk.
