Eugene Woman Arrested After Alleged Knife Attack During Domestic Dispute

Eugene, OR – A 39-year-old woman from Eugene was arrested on multiple charges following an alleged domestic violence incident on Monday evening, according to the Springfield Police Department (SPD).

At approximately 7 p.m. on December 16, officers were dispatched to the area of 18th Street and M Street after receiving a report of an argument between a couple in a shared RV. Upon arrival, authorities spoke with one of the individuals involved in the dispute, who claimed that while tensions were high, the argument had not turned physical. The man told police that his partner, identified as Amanda Bendshadler, was upset and had left the RV before officers arrived at the scene.

Officers advised the individual to contact police if Bendshadler returned and the situation escalated further. Several hours later, SPD received another 911 call from the same man, reporting that Bendshadler had returned to the RV and allegedly attempted to harm him with a knife. He told dispatchers that Bendshadler had made multiple attempts to assault him, leaving him with injuries including cuts, scratches, bite marks, and slices through his clothing. The victim claimed these injuries were not present during his earlier interaction with police.

The man managed to wrest the knife away from Bendshadler and fled the RV, calling 911 for help. Officers responded to the scene again and attempted to de-escalate the situation by ordering Bendshadler to exit the RV. However, she refused to comply with their instructions, prompting officers to deploy pepperballs in an effort to force her out. Despite this, Bendshadler continued to resist.

After further attempts to peacefully resolve the standoff, SPD officers entered the RV and safely took Bendshadler into custody. She allegedly continued to resist arrest but was eventually transported to the Lane County Jail without further incident.

Bendshadler faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault, menacing, and unlawful use of a weapon in the commission of an aggravated assault. She remains in custody as of December 17, 2024.

SPD officials have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation, but the case highlights the dangers of domestic violence situations and the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing volatile encounters.
