BEAVERTON, Ore. — A Beaverton man is facing multiple felony charges after a dramatic road rage incident was captured on dashcam video early Monday morning along Highway 26.
According to the Beaverton Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 6:16 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Highway 26, between Highway 217 and Cedar Hills Boulevard. The footage, which has since been shared widely online, shows a blue Kia Carnival minivan and a motorcyclist traveling in adjacent lanes. The motorcyclist is seen gesturing toward the driver of the minivan shortly before the vehicle veers sharply into the motorcycle, causing the rider to crash. The driver of the minivan did not stop and continued down the highway.
Police identified the suspect as Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho, who was arrested Tuesday after a tip led officers to his residence. Investigators said Pazzoto-Filho was spotted driving a vehicle that matched the minivan in the video. The Kia Carnival had visible damage, including deep scratches on the passenger-side doors, consistent with the crash.
Pazzoto-Filho is now facing several serious charges, including felony hit-and-run, second-degree assault, attempted assault, reckless driving, and unlawful use of a weapon. Authorities also suspect he may have been involved in other instances of reckless driving in recent days and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital. Officials confirmed that the rider has since been discharged.
The incident has sparked concern among local motorists and renewed calls for heightened enforcement of aggressive driving behavior on Oregon highways.
