Children’s Museum of Central Oregon Brings Pop-Up Experience to Sisters Elementary School

Sisters, Ore. – On Saturday, the Children’s Museum of Central Oregon set up a vibrant, interactive learning experience at the new Sisters Elementary School. The mobile museum, which travels across the region, aims to engage children through hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and foster exploration.

The museum’s exhibits, carefully curated for young minds, focus on delivering educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Local children were encouraged to dive into engaging, play-based activities that stimulate both creativity and critical thinking.

One young visitor, third-grader Gwen, shared her excitement after trying out a science experiment that involved visible vibrations. “When you do a visible vibration, it does different noises,” she explained, eager to share her new discovery.

Kenady Wilson, a board member for the Children’s Museum of Central Oregon, emphasized the museum’s mission of providing accessible educational resources for the community. “Our focus is bringing what the community needs to make sure it’s engaging and something the community wants and needs,” she said. “The mobile museum is a core part of our organization, and we’re serving this resource. There’s so much development that occurs in young children when they have that informal education in play-based learning.”

The museum’s board, composed of local residents passionate about expanding STEAM-based learning opportunities, continues to focus on making these experiences accessible to all children in the region.

The pop-up museum will be open again on Sunday, February 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same location. Families in the area are encouraged to bring their children to explore the exhibits and enjoy a day of educational fun.
